THE STORY OF NUROFEN.
A GROUND BREAKING STORY
The story begins with the discovery of ibuprofen, the active ingredient in Nurofen.
It all happened back in the 60’s when a team of scientists from Boots Pharmaceuticals in London, set out to develop a painkiller. They invented ibuprofen which they found to be capable of reducing pain and inflammation. This provided doctors around the world with a useful alternative for helping to relieve mild to moderate pain.
In 1969 ibuprofen was first made available to the public, but it was only available on prescription. In 1983 when Nurofen was launched as an over–the-counter medicine; it was the first time ibuprofen was available to purchase without the need for a prescription, and that it gained public recognition as an effective pain-reliever for mild to moderate pain
MORE PLAY TIME. LESS PAIN TIME
In 1998 Nurofen was the first brand to develop an ibuprofen-based pain reliever for babies and children. Launched as Nurofen for Children, it gave fast, effective relief from pain and fever for babies as young as 3 months (and weighing over 5kg) to 12 years old. And 9 out of 10 mums would recommend for Nurofen for Children*
THE STORY CONTINUES
Just like the development of ibuprofen, Nurofen continues the push to find more ways to provide effective pain relief. This is reflected in the ever-increasing range of Nurofen products, like Nurofen Cold and Flu, and the development of ibuprofen formulations that are absorbed up to twice as fast as standard Nurofen, such as Nurofen Express Liquid Capsules.
This on-going innovation is what makes Nurofen the nation’s favourite branded painkiller.**
